Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
SEND (Special Educational Needs)
At Overchurch Junior School we are committed to giving all children every opportunity to achieve the highest standards in order to reach their full potential.
We recognise that every child has unique characteristics, interests, abilities and learning needs and that some may need additional help, support and intervention if they are to achieve their full potential.
We adopt a graduated approach to supporting children who have special educational needs and our approach is structured to follow the guidance of the new SEND Code of Practice, which can be found within the Children and Families Act, 2014.
Our school policies on inclusion, equal opportunities and our disability action plan provide further information on the ways in which we support children with special educational needs and disabilities.

‘Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are fully included in the life of the school. Their learning needs are identified accurately and known by staff. This means that resources are carefully shaped to help these pupils access the same curriculum as their classmates. Pupils with SEND achieve as well as others in the school.’
